Steve Davis will discuss the history of SpaceX, the first fully-private company to launch, orbit, re-enter, and recover a spacecraft, a feat only previously accomplished by five governments. He will share how company founder Elon Musk’s entrepreneurial background and management style have enabled SpaceX to dramatically decrease the cost of access to space, a critical step towards the goal of eventually making humanity a multi-planetary species. He will also discuss the general state of the United States space program, and the increasing importance of commercial space for both manned and unmanned missions.
